BIST 100 Falls Sharply on Fund Crisis: Index Slips Below 12,500
After BIST 100 opened the week down 1.62% at 12,689.87 points, selling accelerated in the afternoon and the index fell to a day low of 12,457.34 points (3.42%); as of 15:00 (TSİ) the index traded down 3.20% at 12,486.84 points. The index had earlier risen as high as 12,750.45 points (1.16%) during the day.
SPK: Number of Investors in the 131 Liquidated Funds Is 455,758
The Capital Markets Board (SPK) announced that its liquidation decision for a total of 131 investment funds belonging to TERA, PUSULA, HEDEF, ATLAS, A1, PARDUS and BULLS Portföy, taken on September 17, affected 455,758 individual investors. İşbank and Ziraat Bankası announced that the liquidation process would take six months; the effects of the fund crisis continue to weigh on selling pressure at the Istanbul Stock Exchange.
Oil Prices Keep Rising: Brent Climbs to $106.89, WTI to $94.54
As uncertainty over the Strait of Hormuz crisis persisted, oil prices held onto their gains later in the day; Brent crude rose 2.46% to $106.89, while US crude (WTI) climbed 2.30% to $94.54.
Gold Nears a 3.17% Daily Loss: $4,149.19
Gold fell 3.17% on the day to $4,149.19 under pressure from a stronger dollar and rising US Treasury yields; according to some data providers, the price stood around $4,146.98.
