On Friday, the focus in global markets was on **Wall Street**'s rebound after the **US August CPI** data, released at **15.30 (TSİ)**, and on **oil** prices retreating on a fresh diplomatic signal over the **Strait of Hormuz**. Following the inflation data, which came in line with market expectations, all three major US indices closed the day higher: **the S&P 500 gained 0.96%**, **the Dow Jones Industrial Average 1.15%**, and **the Nasdaq Composite 0.88%**, while the **Russell 2000**, which tracks small-cap companies, also gained **1.04%**. On the commodities side, **Brent crude** fell **2.3%** to **$105.15** on Friday, while **WTI crude** dropped **2.73%** to **$99.68**; the decline was driven by reports that the six-member **Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC)** countries are considering meeting **Iran** next **Monday** in the Omani city of **Salalah** to discuss the future of the **Strait of Hormuz**; the meeting has not yet been confirmed, but would be the first with Iran since the war began in late February. In Istanbul, the **BIST 100 index** closed the day at **14,467.25 points**, up **73.40 points (0.51%)** from the previous close of **14,393.85 points**; during the session the index traded in a **14,354.12-14,540.01 point** range, while the **BIST 30 index** gained **0.89%**. Markets now turn their focus to next week's **15-16 September Fed FOMC** meeting.
