Trump Described Iran Conflict as 'Small Potatoes'
President Donald Trump, during a Q&A held in the Oval Office on Friday, said regarding the six-month-long Iran conflict in which 18 American soldiers lost their lives: "I call it a military conflict because to us it is small potatoes. It's not a big thing," and used the expressions "there is no active conflict right now, we do occasional strikes." Trump thus backed Vice President JD Vance's refusal to call the conflict a 'war' during a press conference a day earlier with the words "I wouldn't call this a war... there is no active conflict right now." Vance added that he could not provide a timeline on when Iran would stop firing on ships. The statements drew fierce reactions from the families of the fallen soldiers and the opposition.

The record came at a time when the six-month Iran conflict continues to disrupt global fuel flows; diesel prices broke their own all-time records in some states such as Arkansas and Missouri.
