According to ADP data, the US private sector added only 38 thousand jobs in August; this figure remained well below July's 46 thousand and the market expectation of 47 thousand, signaling the weakest monthly increase since January. While a loss of 17 thousand jobs occurred in manufacturing, annual growth in hourly wages stood at %3,2 (base pay) and %4,7 (total pay). The data points to a slowdown in the labor market ahead of Friday's official non-farm payrolls report (expectation: +53 thousand).
