Two More Tankers Attacked in Hormuz: Sidr and Senegal Prosperity Hit
The supertanker Sidr owned by Saudi Arabia's Bahri company and the tanker Senegal Prosperity owned by South Korea's Sinokor Group were struck by unknown projectiles within consecutive minutes as they were exiting the Strait of Hormuz off the coast of Khasab, Oman. Maritime security source Marisks stated that the near-simultaneous incidents "indicate a new escalation in the threat environment in the Oman corridor." The incident shows that maritime transport risks in the region remain active following the mine incident announced this morning.
Oil Rising Again: Brent at $91, WTI in the $86.5 Band
Following consecutive tanker attacks, Brent crude rose by 0.87% to $91.28, while WTI crude oil rose by 0.94% to $86.57. Despite this, major Gulf producers such as the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Iraq continue their exports via Hormuz; Asian buyers like China, Japan, and South Korea are turning to distant suppliers such as Argentina to offset losses.
Eurozone Inflation Rose to 3.3% in August

The data complicates the inflation outlook ahead of the ECB's September meeting.
